Geo Grid is a polymeric mesh with high tensile strength designed to reinforce soil. The open grid allows aggregate to interlock with the grid, transferring load and confining the aggregate so the pavement behaves stiffer than it would unreinforced.
Three main types in Indian use: Biaxial Geo Grid (equal strength in both directions, used for sub-base reinforcement, working platforms over soft soil, and unpaved haul roads); Uniaxial Geo Grid (strong in one direction, used for retaining walls, reinforced steep slopes and basal reinforcement under embankments); Triaxial Geo Grid (three-directional ribs, used in pavements where stress is distributed in all directions).
Functions: tensile reinforcement (carrying load that soil alone cannot), confinement (locking aggregate in place), strain reduction (limiting deformation), and load distribution (spreading concentrated loads over a wider footprint).
Typical applications in India: NHAI sub-grade reinforcement over black cotton soil, RE walls along expressway embankments, sub-base reinforcement on weak soils, basal reinforcement under high embankments, paved haul roads in mining and construction sites.
Auroguard supplies Biaxial, Uniaxial and Triaxial Geo Grids for the full range of Indian civil and road applications.
